Just recently I received a collections letter for a parking ticket. Wait, I don’t have any parking tickets. So I call Linebarger Goggan Blair and Sampson, the “lawyers” for the city of Chicago. Can you believe this parking ticket is from 10 YEARS AGO! I asked the gentleman on the phone how to contest. “The only way to contest is to go downtown ma’am” . This is absolutley absurd! How is it that after 10 years they are able to send me some collections letter when they never had before? There is no statute of limitations on parking tickets.. Believe me I’ve looked. So now it’s up to me to find records that I’ve paid this ticket 10 years ago. I don’t think this is fair. I love how the city is going after 10 year old tickets trying to get paid.
